Economic Development
The Economic Development Committee, the first of our Five Programmatic Thrust, is committed to encouraging and empowering communities served by the Chicago Alumnae Chapter to become financially literate and economically self-sufficient.
To address the need for economic development, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. developed Financial Fortitude, an initiative specifically designed to promote understanding of all aspects of the financial system, including but not limited to, budgeting, homeownership, personal wealth management, entrepreneurship, and the steps to financial freedom.
In alignment with our national initiative, our award-winning committee successfully launched a series of workshops including Money Smart for Older Adults, worked in partnership with the City Treasurer’s Dollars and Sense Forums, and in support of the Women’s Small Business Expo, and hosted the “Get Your Life and After Life Together” virtual forum, one of the first of its kind drawing over 450 attendees in a three-hour span.
